Abt Associates a global leader in research and program implementation in the fields of health, social, social and international development, seeks qualified candidates for a health systems strengthening project in zambia. funded by the US Agency for International Development, the project will work to improve health outcomes in zambia by strengthening systems that support the delivery of high quality health service and by increasing the utilisation of high impact health interventions.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing payment vouchers and corresponding checks for verification and approval
  • Preparing payroll and other regular payments with due conciderations to deductions
  • Preparing monthly bank reconciliations
  • Checking petty cash payments and periodically reconciling petty cash balances
  • Ensuring that the books of accounts are upto date at all times, orderly, well kept and readily available for reference and audit, when required
  • Preparing monthly cash requests, and promptly advises action required to cover estimated cost
  • Assisting the Senior Finance Manager in the implementation of the internal control system and financial procedures manual of the company

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (prefered) in Accounting, Finance, Business, Administration or other relavant field
  • Four year’s experience in program accounting, bookeeping or financial management
  • Experience working for an international donor organisation is highly desirable
  • knowledge of US government procurement procedures FARs and AIDAR) highly desirable
  • Experience in petty cash management, financial reporting and budget tracking and added advantage
  • A self starter that is able to perform under pressure is prefered
  • Strong abilities in English, knowledge of other Zambian national languages is highly desirable
