Assistant Purchasing Officer Job


 

JOB TITLE: ASSISTANT PURCHASING OFFICER

Purpose:

To assist the Purchasing Officer in purchase orders and procurement of University requirements from local suppliers.

Responsibilities:

  • Sending out enquires relating to the goods to be purchased from local suppliers, assisting in verification of offers from suppliers and working out quantities required for ordering.
  • Sourcing for required items within reasonable costs ensuring that goods are purchased at the most competitive price and quality.
  • Conducting local market research and analysing quotations and bids to ensure that prices offered conform to the University requirements.
  • Expediting movement of goods in transit from local suppliers and ensuring that proper documentation and progress payment for VAT and duty are within a specified period.
  • Receiving quotations and invoices from suppliers, raising documents to advice accounts to make payments.
  • Advising end users on the status of all purchase requests within stipulated time.
  • Producing accurate monthly reports on the status of all purchase requests within the stipulated time.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 Certificate or its equivalent.
  • Second Certificate in Purchasing and Supply or Foundation Diploma in Chattered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) Level 4
  • At least three (3) years relevant working experience.
  • Must be a member of the Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply (ZIPS).
  • Must be Computer Literate.
