Job Title: Internal Audit Assistant

The Copperbelt University invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for appointment in the University Establishment as follows – Internal Audit Assistant.

Reporting To: Internal Auditor

Main Purpose

The Internal Audit Assistant shall perform professional internal auditing work. He/ She shall be responsible for carrying out audit tasks and maintaining audit working files.

Key Responsibilities

Under the supervision of Internal Auditor, the following are among the job’s key responsibilities: –

  1. Assist in identifying and evaluating the organization’s risk areas
  2. Perform audit procedures as assigned by the supervisor
  3. Review documents and prepare working papers
  4. Maintain appropriate working relationships with university staff and internal audit staff
  5. Communicating audit findings to supervisors throughout the audit
  6. Identify audit issues and ensure findings are adequately supported
  7. Pursue professional development opportunities, including external and internal training and professional association memberships, and sharing information gained with co-workers
  8. Conduct performance, operational, financial and compliance audit projects
  9. Provide consulting services to the University’s management and staff
  10. Provide input to development of the annual internal audit plan
  11. Maintain all university and professional ethical standards and complete all internal audit work in compliance with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA)’s International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (Standards)

Minimum Qualifications/ Experience

  • Minimum of a Grade 12 Certificate with 5 Credits including Mathematics and English
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Higher Diploma / Professional qualification in a relevant field
