The Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) is an investment company wholly owned by the government of Zambia. Incorporated in 2004, IDC’s established mission is to contribute Zambia’s economic development through industrialization and job creation by nurturing effective and commercially driven strategic investment.

Responsibilities

  • To manage financial operations, in order to ensure sound financial management systems, practices and applications in the Corporation
  • Prepares financial statements in order to enable IDC make informed decisions
  • Analyses all accounts and journal entries to ensure correct reporting
  • Undertakes various analytical works as required by management to aid in decision making
  • Analyses financial performance and so contributing to medium and long-term business planning or forecasts
  • Manages timely processing of payments in order to facilitate procurement of goods and services and meet the company financial obligations
  • Manage timely accounting for receivables and their prompt settlement
  • Manages timely collection of and banking of revenues in order to ensure safe custody of funds
  • Prepares and ensures payroll is managed effectively and efficiently
  • Implements the financial decisions to ensure that they are conducted in a proper manner with a view to achieving the objectives of IDC
  • Prepares a consolidated annual draft budget for IDC in order to ensure that it reflects the Corporation’s direction and objectives
  • Prepares a consolidated annual budget for the attention of the superior by monitoring income and expenditure to ensure that funds are spent according to the plan
  • Monitors and Investigates variances against budgets and provide analysis of the differences
  • Reconciles exchange movements ensuring that all relevant revaluations are prepared correctly and reflected correctly in the management accounts
  • Offers professional judgement on financial matters and advises on ways of improving business performance
  • Advises on the financial implications and consequences to business decisions
  • Interprets and communicates financial data to non-financial experts
  • Provides support service by working with all departments and the management team to help make financial decisions
  • Prepares monthly, quarterly annual and ad-hoc financial management reports to ensure conformity with standard accounting practices and procedures
  • Assists in reviewing the Corporation’s financial rules, regulations and accounting systems to determine their effectiveness
  • Performs the treasury functions, monitor and control movement of cash in order to ensure conformity to policy and procedures

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Accounting professional qualification
  • Masters in Finance or MBA desirable
  • Full Professional Membership with ZICA
  • Five years experience in a similar position
