Internal Auditor


The Water Resources Management Authority (WARMA) is a statutory body incorporated under the Water Resources Management Act No.21 of 2011 of the Laws of Zambia. The mandate of WARMA is to preserve and protect Zambia’s ground and surface water resources and regulate the abstraction, allocation, use, development and management of water in a sustainable manner.

Responsibilities

  • Internal Auditor is expected to undertake timely  preparation and submissio of pre and post Internal Audit reports for decision making
  • Undertake timely implementation of Audit work Plans and programmes in order to ensure adherence to internal controls
  • Examine Departmental records to identify risks that the institution faces, systems and procedural weaknesses and interviews staff to ensure recording of transactions and compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Inspect accounting and other systems to determine their efficiency and protective value. Checks and verifies documents to ensure compliance to established procedures and practices, riles and regulations. Highlights all findings in report, for the Audit and risk Committee
  • Investigate cases of systems malpractices, fraud, pilferage, manipulation and determines causes of the same, makes relevant recommendations to Audit and Risk Committee on the strengths and weaknesses of the systems
  • Review records pertaining to operations and material assets such as equipment, building and staff t determine the degree to which the are being utilized
  • Analyse data obtained for evidence of deficiencies in controls, duplication of effort, extravagance, fraud or lack of compliance with laws, government regulations and management policies or procedures in order to prepare for audit and investigation
  • Liaise with external Auditors, the Auditor General, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Energy and Water Resources on various issues pertaining to accounts and n overall organizational operations to ensure compliance by all officers concerned
  • Perform any other related audit tasks as and when required, such as assisting with the updating and maintenance of audit manuals

Qualifications

  • Full grade 12 certificate
  • Degree in Accountancy or Business Administration and part qulification inACCA,CIMA or CIA
  • Member of Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) or Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA)
  • Four years relevant work experience
