Long Range Planner

Responsible for leading a team of technical professionals in the coordinated developments of the Life of Mine Planning for Konkola Underground operations. S/he will need to ensure that the mine has clear direction in terms of what needs to be completed and by when to ensure continual production growth of the operation.

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Maintain Zero-rate Accidents for SOU by ensuring that all safety standards are incorporated in the conceptual designs/layouts of the mine
    Engage and manage consultants for hydrogeological studies and programs, to ensure that the mine has a clear dewatering strategy in place for the future.

  • Requirements / Competency Profile :-

Critical Competencies

  •  Sound knowledge of the mining value chain and enabling processes
  • Business and financial analytical skills
  •  Sound knowledge of business improvement/optimization and best practice benchmarking
  •  Strong project management skills
  •  Experience in the use of improvement tools
  •  Experience of working with culturally diverse teams
  •  Good verbal, written and presentation skills are required

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mining Engineering

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience with predominant expertise in mechanized mining operations environment.
  • Experience in underground mine design and development.
  • Experience in mine equipment selection, capital cost and operating cost estimates.

Knowledge

  • Familiar with mine planning software such as Surpac, Deswik or other mine development software
  • Knowledge of the international (ISO) quality, safety, and environmental management standards.
