Job Title: Information Technology Assistant
Location: Lusaka – with up to 60% travel to Concern field offices.
Grade: D
Reporting to: Director – Systems.
Reporting From: N/A
Liaises with: Regional IT Advisor, DP, District Programme Coordinators, Administration Assistants, Office Managers
Job Purpose:
To ensure the ICT infrastructure for all Concern Worldwide Zambia offices and partners’ offices are functioning effectively and that network security is maintained. To support Concern staff in use of Windows programmes and Concern systems (learn 365, intranet) and other software.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Hardware and software maintenance
  • To configure and install all ICT equipment as per the Dublin IT standards and guidelines
  • To ensure the use of CWW compliance software application on all Concern computers
  • To ensure the security and safety of IT equipment
  • To ensure the security of wireless access keys and administrative passwords
  • To perform routine preventive maintenance works on servers and other IT equipment.
  • To respond to ICT  issues and challenges (networking, server, printing, internet,/e-mail, phone systems, etc) and take appropriate corrective action
  • Ensure that relevant issues or problems are escalated/ raised to Dublin Helpdesk in a timely manner
  • To liaise with the ISP for any matters concerning the internet links at any Concern offices.
  •  To maintain a tracking system for all ICT repairs and maintenance issues
  • Maintain all computers and accessories in all field offices and Lusaka head office to minimize trouble and maximize service life
  • Undertake regular field visits (up to 60% of time will be spent visiting the field) to each location based on identified needs from the field as well as preventive maintenance work and staff training.
  • Preparation of reports from each trip showing progress and outcomes against trip TORs
  • Identify potential systems gaps in ICT hardware and software and make appropriate recommendations
Information Management
  • Ensure that every Concern Worldwide- Zambia staff member has a computer data backup system(e.g. SyncToy) and backups are done on a weekly basis
  • Ensure that there is an offsite data backup system to backup all user’s data on the servers in all the office locations of Concern Worldwide Zambia and that this is done on a weekly basis.
  • Ensure that each location has a clear filing system on the server so that staff can access relevant key documents.
  • To ensure the automatic backups of GP2010 databases are being taken on routinely basis.
Training and capacity building support
  • Assist Concern and partner staff members in using relevant computer applications, operating systems and software..
  • To provide training to line managers so that they can ensure their staff/teams are able to file soft copy documents in a clear and logical manner that allows for easy retrieval and sharing.
Asset register and control
  • To maintain the online asset register for all IT equipment as per Dublin IT requirements.
  • To maintain a hard copy register of IT equipment as well as ensure that IT High Value sign out sheets are used when IT equipment is issued.
  • Track all IT assets and produce a quarterly report showing status of IT equipment in all locations.
Other tasks and responsibilities
  • Assist the Concern Worldwide Zambia Purchase Committee in ensuring that all ICT equipment purchased is in compliance with the standards set by Dublin IT
  • To work with the Director Systems to ensure there is a three- year IT equipment replacement plan in place and that this is regularly reviewed.
  • To provide back up and support on general issues of power management, generators and UPS issues.
  • To adhere to and support the implementation of the Concern staff code of conduct and Programme Participant Protection Policy as described in the National Staff HR Manual
  • Other tasks as directed by the line manager.
Person Specification
Education & Qualifications Required:
  • Diploma in Computer related field
  • Knowledge of server 2008/2012
  • In depth technical knowledge of PC hardware
Experience Required:
2-3 years relevant work experience in an NGO environment – including the following:
  • Assist in designing and layout of local area networks
  • Setting up and configuration of LAN networks
  • IT security assessments.
  • Setting up and configuration of Wireless Access Point (WAP).
  • Cost evaluation in relation to IT procurement (not really needed)

Concern is implementing the Zambia Female Youths Livelihood and Nutrition Enhancement
Project (FYNEP) in collaboration with the World Bank with funding from the Japanese Social Development Fund. The Project Development Objective (PDO) is to improve access to livelihood opportunities and nutrition among selected female youths in targeted project areas. The project has 4 main components; a life skills curriculum to increase control and knowledge around life choices and nutrition, a livelihoods component focussed on agricultural livelihoods related to improved nutrition, a health component to directly support pre-conception nutrition and nutrition outreach. This project will benefit an estimated 24,600 persons in Limulunga and Kaoma Districts of Western Province and started on the 1st July 2015 with three-year duration.
We are currently recruiting consultants for the role of Community Development Facilitator. As this role is entirely working with young women between the ages of 10 and 24, preference will be given to suitably qualify female candidates.
Community Development Facilitators (CDFs) (5 in Kaoma and 5 in Limulunga Districts)
The Community Development Facilitators will work closely with Project Support Officers to provide technical support in the implementation of FYNEP activities in Kaoma or Limulunga districts. The CDFs will also work with Peer Leaders of the Girl Clubs and Community Volunteers on different activities including providing trainings, mentoring, organisation, supervision, and monitoring of the implementation of activities.
Requirements:
  • Diploma level training in any of the areas of in agriculture, rural development, nutrition, health, community development or related field
  • At least 3 years progressive field experience working with rural communities with a focus on agriculture, conservation agriculture, life skills, health or nutrition.
  • Demonstrable experience of working with youth and women.
  • Excellent facilitation skills with an empowering style
  • Training experience in a related field
  • Ability to ride a motorcycle, with valid license or willingness to learn to ride a motorcycle.
