National Coordinator Job Available – SaveNET Project


Position Purpose

The National Coordinator SaveNET is responsible for the coordination of the SaveNET and manages the process of collaboration among member organisations in Zambia. He/she represents and profiles the members in meetings and events in the country. Meaningful membership growth and management are key in this programme, as such experience in working with member organisations critical to this position. The National Coordinator on a day to day basis reports to the Country Economic Empowerment Programme Manager at Plan International Zambia Country Office and to the SaveNET board of Directors.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Ensuring  Coordination among all Saving Groups implementing Agencies in Zambia
  • Monitoring progress of implementation of the annual plans.
  • Managing  SaveNET budget in coordination with Economic Empowerment Programme Manager under the auspices of the Board of Directors
  • Managing SaveNET database and on a monthly basis carrying out a data exchange with Rural Finance Expansion Programme (RUFEP)
  • Compiling narrative reports and reviewing progress and financial reports respectively
  • Continually work on networking and maintaining good relations with project partners, communities and relevant governmental authorities (bodies)
  • Organising and managing monthly, quarterly and annual  planning and review meetings;
  • Developing  new project proposals and source for funding opportunities and overall development of SaveNET in general
  • Coordinating  and supporting capacity building of member organisations as needed
  • Monitoring and  evaluation of activities on the  SaveNET project
  • Secretariat to the Board meetings, General Assemblies and any other meeting as when they may arise in which member  organisations are represented;
  • Profiling and increasing the visibility of  SaveNET.
  • Linking of Community-based Financial Institution (CBFI) with Private sector on agro-value chains
  • Developing  suitable linkages of the Community Based Financial Institution CBFI  to Financial Institutions, including banks and micro finance institutions

Individual Specifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Agriculture/Business/ Development Studies or related discipline
  • At least 3-4 years’ experience in managing projects with strong technical expertise In microfinance/savings and lending
  • Knowledge and skills in working with member organisations
  • Knowledge of and experience in financial inclusion will be an added advantage.
