Job Title: General Manager-Engineering

Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to safety standards and mandates of Zero fatalities, Zero lost time injuries and Zero discharge
  • Develop and review maintenance policies, procedures and specifications to improve maintenance planing and scheduling based on OEM and historical data (FMEA/RCA/5-Why’s)
  • Development of SOP or SMP for optimisation of PM’s on all critical equipment maintenance, repair and operating spares process management re-design to achieve JIT quality spares on site for spares management
  • Implementation of best-in-class mining engineering practices including training of personnel in the use and application of new and improved technologies, mining methods etc
  • Mentoring and training of engineers and training all maintenance engineers in new proactive maintenance approaches
  • Ensure control of changes to equipment, plant and support infrustracture (eg SCADA/DCS/Air Lines, etc) are documented and approved
  • Measure and continously optimise the maintenance process through analysis of trends of KPIs, bench mark with other companies, implementation of structures for the identification of short-comings in maintenance standards and practices through field observations and improve MTBF and MTTR
General Manager-Technical Services
Responsibilities
  • Leading the delivery of the mine’s technical service functions; geology, hydrogeology, mine planning, ventilation, geotechnical, and survey
  • Managing the short, medium, and long term life-of-mine planning
  • Providing the ongoing determination of the viability of the mining and processing operation
  • Understanding and maximising the Business Unit’s medium to long term value chain
Qualificayions
  • A university degree in Mining Engineering or Mining Geologywith a post graduate qualification in Mining Engineering
  • A post graduate qualification in business or commercial studies would be an advantage
  • 15 years post qualification experience in mining operations and technical services. At least five of this should have been spent at senior management level
  • Specific experience is required in underground trackless open stopping with fill operations
  • A knowledge of strategic water management would be an advantage
  • A working knowledge of geology, surveying, planning and scheduling software packages and their intergration. The eligibility to be an EIZ and ERB member would be an advantage
