JOB TITLE: COUNSELLOR
Job Summary
The employee is to provide support to the Head of Counseling in the Counseling Department. This entails making sure that all procedures are followed correctly to ensure that the organization works in accordance with the law. The employee will also carry out any administrative duties required, and ensure that they work both efficiently and effectively. The incumbent will develop a plan on how to assist the client and recommend and perform counseling for children who exhibit emotional distress, and follow up on client’s progress.
Specific Responsibilities/Functions
  • Interacting with the children daily and counseling them when the need arises.
  • Carry out assessments on the children and check on their emotional health.
  • Negotiate and resolve complicated issues between children with other children, guardians and the organization, house parents and the children, as well as children and the organization.
  • Compile weekly reports for the Counseling Department on the progress of your clients.
  • Build good relationships among the children, and between children and the other staff. Competencies and Success Factors

Academic and Professional Requirements
  • Minimum Diploma in Psychology , Counseling or Social Work.
  • Certified in Child Counseling.
  • At least 3 years in similar role with donor funded organization.
