Policy Programme Assistant: World Food Programme – Zambians

The World Food Programme (WFP), Zambia is seeking a motivated  self-starter to support the day to day operations of the Scaling-Up Nutrition (SUN) Business Network office in Zambia. The candidate will serve as the administration support for development of the Nutrition Economic Policy and Regulation work stream for the SUN Business Network at WFP.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and build on existing documents such as Zambian trade policies and frameworks that relate to food and Trade organisations and agreements that impact food consuption and nutrition
  • Support Economic Policy and regualation consultant to complete the analysis process within the set period
  • Build an updated record or list of key stakeholders and individuals in zambia including definations of the role that each could play to drive an effective change in economic policy and regulation for nutrition
  • Work with SUN Business Network Manager to plan and oganise innovative networking activities and events
  • Support a review of weekly action plan and coordinate reminders with team to ensure meetings, events presentations on calendar schedule are on track
  • Document best-practices of strategies of implementing economic policies and regulation for nutrition including recomendations for the local content
  • Carry out other tasks, as required, to support day-to-day activities of WFP’s engagement with the private sector on nutrition in Zambia

Qualifications

  • Atlist two years experience in a private company or non-governmental organisation in Zambia or abroad
  • Practical experience in policy analysis with specific focus on quantitative analysis or quantitative data, business or project administration, business processes
  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, business, management, international development, international studies or relevant field
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to the needs of stakeholders
  • Well organised with strong logical and administrative skills
  • A creative and “out of the box” mind-set
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently to achieve milestones with tight timelines

  • Advanced Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skille with proven experiencec
