Project Accountant Job – Fresh Recruitment


Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) in Zambia is working in various thematic areas namely Education, Community Development, Agriculture and Rural Development, Health including the fight against HIV/AIDS, Economic Development and Environmental Conservation. The organisation strives, through the implementation of its projects, to work with the needy by providing knowledge, skills and tools that empower them and their families to face and overcome the challenges of everyday life, and thereby improving their livelihoods.

Responsibilities

  • Review and ensure prompt retirement of receipts and make available invoices upon payment
  • Process and review receipts and travel expense reports related to the Project
  • Alert the Project Leader, superiors and Finance and Administration of any challenges from, or with the Project
  • Ensure that all relevant information entered or correspondence with the donor partner is maintained on a respective file for the respective donor
  • Ensure that monthly reports are reviewed for data quality and work directly and promptly with the Project leader to correct any inaccuracies
  • Analyse and balance or creditors balances on the trial balance
  • Provide training and support to the Accounts Clerks and non-accounting staff in the Project as needed
  • Assist Project Leaders with monthly or quarterly forecasts and annual budget analysis
  • Prepare regular status reports and monthly financial statements for the Project, and submit it to the Finance Manager for final verification
  • Ensure that Time Sheets are done and an invoice prepared for the time spent on the Project
  • Provide year-end support of external auditors requirements, which may include vouching and reconcilement

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Accountancy, Finance or related field or a partly qualified professional qualification in accountancy (ACCA, CIMA or CICA) and registered with ZICA
  • Three years of experience as an Accountant working with a project in relation to social development under a national / international Civic Society Organisation
  • Knowledge of USAID and or other international donors’ financial management rules and regulations is an added advantage
  • Knowledge of Pastel Accounting or similar accounting package application
