Project Coordinator Job Opportunity at DAPP Zambia


Development Aid from People to People is looking for a qualified and dedicated person to take up the position as a Project Coordinator for an application towards Malaria Elimination 8 Initiative – Malaria Test, Treat and Track (TTT). The project will establish and implement health service posts for Malaria diagnosis, treatment and surveillance for mobile and underserved populations in the border areas of Livingstone, Kazungula and Sesheke.

SADC region continues to experience a significant rise in frequent and undocumented migration flow of humans, with significant importation/exportation of malaria from/to high/low transmission countries. Human movement across the borders, facilitates the continued transmission of parasites into eliminating areas, serving as one of the key barriers to attaining elimination.

The E8 TTT 02 project will be implemented in Mozambique, South Africa, Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Each country will have its country team led by a Project Coordinator who will be responsible for the Installation and Implementation of Health Service post for Malaria Diagnosis, Treatment, and Surveillance for Mobile and Underserved Populations.

DAPP seeks a Project Coordinator for the Zambia country team who will be in charge of monitoring the implementation and results, managing and coaching the human resources, cash flow and financial reports, who will collaborate with District and Provincial health authorities, and other provincial stakeholders. The Coordinator will collaborate with other project stakeholders across the E8 countries. He/She will coach and supervise the Logistic officer, district supervisors, Malaria post team and community health workers. He/She will be responsible for assuring the quality of the field work – Malaria Test, Treat and Track and that the planned targets will be met.

Specific duties

  • Manage, supervise, monitor and support the project implementation in the selected districts;
  • Provide guidance and ensure malaria posts meet their targets in alignment with the project milestones, logical framework, and the M&E plan;
  • Monitor financial execution and accounting practices to ensure accuracy and reliability of financial reports under his/her responsibility;
  • Conduct field visits for quality assurance and technical support to comply with the risk management plan;
  • Assist in the elaboration of timely and quality narrative and financial quarterly and progress reports from other E8 countries collaborators;
  • Maintain accurate project filing systems covering all project activities;
  • Conduct as appropriate information dissemination activities.

The Project Coordinator will report to the DAPP HQ Programme Coordinator

Duty Station: Livingstone

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Graduated degree in public health, Medical Doctor, Nurse, business, statistical, or other health related degrees or 10 years past experiences in managing health project
  • A minimum of five years traceable working experiences, in areas directly related to health project.
  • Previous experience of steering community projects, with a responsibility for the technical approach, human resources management, economy, and reporting.
  • Experience using statistical packages will have add-value effect.
  • Relevant work experience in the health sector and particularly with Malaria case management and vector borne diseases.
  • Experience in writing program reports and management plans.
  • Good communication skills focused on the internal environment at the country team and external audience with partners.
  • Familiar and with previous working experiences with relevant donors such as Global Fund, World Bank, USAID, etc.
  • Experience working and coaching teams
  • Experience collaborating with government institutions, specifically with the districts and Provincial Health,
  • Fluent in English and Portuguese with good writing skills
  • Profound Knowledge in the use of computer software packages for word-processing, excel, power point, databases as well as internet.
