Project Support Officer: Concern Worldwide


Concern Worldwide is implementing the Local Integration Project with the UNHCR and other implementing partners in Mayukwayukwa resettlement area, 80km’s from Kaoma district in Western Province. The project targets former refugees as well as other local residents in the resettlement area, and employs an integrated approach to improve their livelihood by mobilising target communities to increase agricultural production, create market linkages, improve household incomes, improve nutrition and reduce the risk to vulnerable households from natural disasters and HIV and AIDS. Concern believes that women’s empowerment and gender equality are pre-requisites for development, ensuring women have access and control over resources and a voice in the community.

We are currently recruiting for a Project Support Officer to be based in the project area in Mayukwayukwa on an 8 month assignment. The post holder will coordinate the implementation of the local integration project activities by developing work plans, implementing and fine-tuning programme activities while working closely with relevant stakeholders in the project area.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Closely monitor the work of CDF in terms of the implementation of activities both at community and school level, and provide continuous technical support
  • Organise training for targeted community members, teachers, and students in line with the programme document.
  • Carry out regular field visits to monitor the performance of activities at community and school levels and provide on the job technical support.
  • Report monthly on activities, challenges, lessons learnt, best practices, case studies, etc.
  • Ensure that cross cutting themes (issue of HIV and AIDS and Gender) are mainstreamed across different project activities and liaison with gender officer for technical support.
  • Coordinate with district relevant government and non-governmental bodies to ensure collaboration between stakeholders for effective implementation of the project.
  • Work closely with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock staff both at district and camp levels to ensure their involvement in the project implementation during beneficiary selection, training, and follow up.
  • Regularly attend meetings with stakeholders including UNHCR, Caritas, World Vision, and other agencies working on the local integration programme to ensure synergy between the different interventions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, rural development or related field
  • A minimum of 3 years field experience working with small scale farmers in one or more of the following areas; Conservation agriculture; Agroforestry; Sustainable agriculture; Organic farming and Permaculture
  • Commitment to work in remote location with a minimum service
  • Good understanding of rural development programmes, gender/equality issues
  • Good facilitation skill, analytical skills and English language documentation and reporting skills
  • Ability to speak at least one of the local languages (Mbunda, Luvale, Lozi, Nkoya, Portuguese)
  • Ability to ride a motorcycle, with valid licence
