SCZ International Ltd Recruiting Now: Seed Inspector


Objectives:

To undertake Seedco (Z) seed production activities in the Region of operation in order to achieve high levels of both genetic and physical purity of the seed. All seed crops must be grown according to the standards and regulations set out in the Plant Varieties and Seeds Act (CAP 236) of The Laws of Zambia and Seed Co Ltd internal quality standards.

As a Seed Inspector, you will be in the public forefront portraying the image of the company with the growers and other stakeholders, and as such a high degree of integrity and professionalism is demanded.

Reporting Structure:

You report directly to the Production Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Inspections – ensure field inspections are done timely and properly in accordance with the requirements of the Seeds Act Regulations and the ISO 9001:2008 working instructions.
  • Sampling – ensure timely sampling of all the seedlots in the region. All the sampling must be done in accordance with the current existing ISTA sampling procedures
  • Technical Advice – provide seed production and agronomy technical back-up services to seed growers, farm managers/supervisors.
  • Grower Base Development – effectively participate in the development of a grower base that is productive and efficient.
  • Complaints Management – to handle seed production complaints in your region and refer those you can’t handle to relevant higher office.
  • Legislation – keep abreast of any developments in seed production and legislation and advise seed growers accordingly
  • Relationship Management – develop and maintain sound and cordial relations with SCZ Ltd both external and internal stakeholders
  • Character – maintain high levels of integrity, loyalty and professional performance at all time.
  • Meetings – to attend all meetings as called for by the Production Manager or any higher office
  • Reports – ensure that quality field inspection and well updated weekly reports are done and submitted timely to the Production Manager

Conflict of Interest

The Seed Inspector may not engage in a business that competes with Seed Co or to engage in speculation in any securities which, which in the opinion of SCZ Ltd, may prejudice or conflict with assigned duties as an employee of the company or interests of the company

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Full grade 12 certificate with five (5) credits
  • Diploma in Agriculture from a recognised institution
  • Seed Inspector’s Certificate from SCCI
  • Basic knowledge in using Microsoft Office Word and Excel
  • Ability to discharge duties with minimum supervision
  • Sober character and committed to quality
  • Clean Driver’s License
  • 3 Years experience in a related field.
