Zambia National Commercial Bank Plc (Zanaco) is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the following job aimed at contributing to the Bank’s strategic vision, in the Commercial Division under the Retail Banking Department at Head Office:-

SMALL BUSINESS BANKING SENIOR SPECIALIST (X1)

JOB PURPOSE

Responsible for Small Business Banking segment (SME Tier 2 and GRZ Tier 2) customer acquisition, retention and maximum growth on the existing book of business. This position ensures the delivery of a relevant Small Business Banking client value proposition and directs the overall performance of the Bank’s personal banking offering.

Under the supervision of the Head Client Segments, the following are among the Job Key Responsibilities:-

  • Responsible for the growth of clients on the portfolio and accountable for all financial KPIs on the portfolio
  • To execute client value proposition for Small Business Banking clients
  • To ensure brand and offering consistency across the channel offering for this segment
  • To enable frontline through sales tool kits
  • To execute on client journeys and business cycle programs
  • To execute upsell and cross segment migration programs
  • To build and execute alliances/partnerships
  • To execute on service model
  • Working with the branch sales leads, develop a pipeline of GRZ institutions that are not centrally managed by the Public Sector team at Head Office and have a clear sales and visiting plan for these to derive value
  • To conduct quarterly market sizing activities across segments to understand segment potential in order to acquire new business
  • To work with corporate Regional Managers and Branch Sales Managers – document and close retail sales opportunities with wholesale lines
  • To provide central leads from marketing intelligence for sales opportunities
  • To execute closure of sales leads from GRZ Yellow book
  • To ensure that identified sales leads per cluster are properly managed and prioritized for execution
  • To monitor and manage segment and portfolio performance per stream
  • To drive transactions and deposits in this segment for growth in liabilities and Bank NIR
  • To conduct quarterly market sizing activities across segments to understand segment potential in order to acquire new business
  • To identify opportunities to cross sell products and services to new and existing customers and ensure these opportunities are executed
  • To manage the demand and supply side of SME value chain – off takers opportunities/contract management
  • To co-ordinate management of overdrawn accounts To ensure management of Non-Performing Loans – for borrowing customers
  • To provide monthly MIS to branches and coordinate the following:
    • Segment account performance
    • Management of account through put (increase account average balances and develop plan to engage customers)
  • To be the liaison person with credit on reports relating to credit management and updates
  • To conduct market sizing and provide initiatives to grow portfolio.

INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CONTACT

  • External: Local Regulators on statutory matters, GRZ representatives, SME associations
  • Internal: All Divisions

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 5 Credits Grade 12 Certificate including Mathematics and English
  • University Degree in relevant subject
  • Diploma in Banking or Finance will be an added advantage
  • At least five (5) years banking experience
  • Understanding of all Zanaco Retail Banking products and account opening, KYC Cash and other Branch process requirements
  • Understanding of relevant legislation e.g. KYC, Anti – Money laundering, Banking code.
  • Understanding of people policies and processes
  • Demonstrated complaint handling and resolution skills
