United Nations World Food Programme. The World Food Programme is the food-assistance branch of the United Nations and the world’s largest humanitarian organization addressing hunger and promoting food security. To provide technical assistance to MoGE, NFNC, MoA and MCDSS for the implementation of the Home Grown School Meals.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and conduct coordination meetings for the multi-sectoral Technical Working Group
  • Document the proceedings of the coordination meetings and develop action sheet
  • Lobby for the identification and approval of a coordinating mechanism for the programme taking into account existing government structures, especially the Basic Social Protection Coordination Unit
  • Facilitate a multi-stakeholder dialogue and resolution on which ministry should oversee the HGSM programme, and roles and responsibilities outlined
  • Produce a monthly, quarterly and annual progress reports
  • Identify capacity gaps in implementing ministries and facilitate/support capacity building activities in line ministries such as MoGE, MoA, MCDSW, NFNC
  • To ensure that the HGSM programme is mainstreamed in sectoral plans and budgets
  • Support the HGSM multisectoral implementation action plan
  • Ability to convene multi-stakeholders and facilitate dialogue, training is an added advantage
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Negotiation, advocacy and presentation skills desirable
  • Proficient in the use of office equipment and computer software packages, such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Qualifications 

  • University Degree in Social Work, Sociology, or Development studies
  • Fluency in both oral and written communication English language
  • Three years’ experience in the development sector
  • Experience in working on Social Protection programs, including social safety nets or food security programs
  • Experience of working with government, international organizations and civil society
  • Experience of coordinating multi-sectoral programs
