The University of Lusaka s seeking to recruit qualified persons for the following positions
1) Human Resource Manager
The position incumbent will be responsible for providing overall direction of human resources operations and support across all employee types including faculty and non-faculty employees. This includes interpretation of University HR policies, providing consultation and advice on HR issues and concerns.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
  • Oversee review and approval of faculty and staff recruitment process and counselling managers on candidate selection
  • Provide management with monthly Human Resource reports.
  • Advice management on developing organizational structures that enhance effectiveness and reduce administrative costs.
  • Partnering with the faculties and heads of departments on organization design and development
  • Ensures planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees; scheduling management conferences with employees; hearing and resolving employee grievances; counselling employees arid supervisors
  • Maintains management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures
  • The position will supervise subordinate human resources staff and be responsible for assuring that the unit’s personnel actions
  • Oversee and manage employee separations within the University and coordinate apphcable employee exit (off boarding) activities

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Applicants should be holders of a Bachelor of Arts Degree, in either Human Resource Management, Business Administration or Public Administration.
  • A master in any related field will be an added an advantage
  • A minimum five (5) or more years’ experience in a similar capacity will be an added advantage.
  • Member of the Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management.
 2) Maintenance and Security Manager.
The Maintenance and Security Manager will be accountable for the provision of maintenance & security policies, strategies and operational activity for the University.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS 
  • Carry out risk assessments and make recommendations to senior management, assessing level of risk in terms of wider issues such as international/national terrorism and animal rights issues.
  • Encourage university community to report all incidents and ensure that reports are analyzed in terms of trends emerging to inform decisions on cost effective deployment of staff, CCTV etc.
  • Direct and supervise maintenance staff, security officers, general workers and contractors
  • Make sure that all University facilities are periodically serviced and inspected on a regular basis
  • Reviewing all facility maintenance contracts!agreements and ensure terms and conditions are implemented.
  • Develop proactive Security policies / strategies thus reducing the opportunity for crime on campus.
  • Participate in the planning of major events to ensure that life and property at the University are safe and secure.
  • Advise Senior Management on confidential or sensitive matters and act as a conduit between the University and the police at all levels ¡n order to expedite solutions to difficult situations.
  • Receive and deal with any information that has a security dimension in a confidential manner.
KEY ATTRIBUTES AND SKILLS
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to collaborate and build consensus across departments and among stakeholders
  • Experience with a wide range of relevant systems, and security monitoring and detection tools
  • Extensive ability to plan, design, develop, test, implement and monitor IT security systems
  • Strong leadership, negotiation and persuasion ability
  • Should possess a quick analytical mind and a decisive nature
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Applicants should be holders of a Degree in Security studies or any related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Building Science or Real Estate Management
  • Must have attended some security training by a well-established security firm
  • A minimum five (5) or more years’ experience in a similar capacity will be an added advantage.
  • Law enforcement background is an added advantage
  • Computer literate
3) book binder. 
Bookbinders operate print machinery, cut printed sheets, organize pages, check pages for quality and bind pages together. They assemble books, manuals, pamphlets, magazines, brochures and/or other printed documents that need to be bound or folded.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS 
  • Cuts, assembles, glues, and sews components to bind books, according to specification, using automatic and manually operated machines, hand tools, and equipment: Folds printed sheets to form signatures and assembles signatures in numerical order to form book body.
  • Attaches endpapers to top and bottom of book body.
  • Sews signatures and endpapers together along spine of book body, using sewing machine, or glues endpapers and signatures together along spine, using brush or glue machine.
  • Compresses sewed or glued signatures to reduce book to required thickness, using hand press or smashing machine.
  • Trims edges of book to size, using cutting or book trimming machine or hand cutter.
  • Inserts book body in device that forms back edge of book into convex shape and produces grooves to facilitate attachment of cover.
  • Applies glue to back of book, using brush or glue machine, and attaches cloth backing and headband.
  • Cuts binder board to specified dimension, using board shears, hand cutter, or cutting machine.
  • Cuts cover material, such as leather or cloth, to specified dimensions and fits and glues material to binder board manually or by machine.
  • Glues outside endpapers to cover.
  • Places bound book in press that exerts pressure on cover until glue dries.
  • Imprint letters, designs, or numbers on cover using colored foil and stamping machine.
  • Repairing and rebinding damaged or worn books for reuse.

  • Full grade 12 certificate.
  • Diploma in secretarial studies or any related field will be an added advantage
  • A minimum of 1 (one) or more years’ experience in a similar capacity
  • Must be able to work with stamping, stitching, trimming, pressing and binding machines.
