Responsibilities
- Incumbent develops and implements a comprehensive communications program for CDC Zambia
- Promotes public understanding of CDC programs and accomplishments
- Plans and coordinates the dissemination of information relating to the organization’s programs, objectives and functions through various media
- Provides communications support for multiple public health programs, including but not limited to PEPFAR, Presidential Malaria Initiative (PMI), immunizations, and global health security (GHS)
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in public health, communications, journalism or marketing is required
- Five years progressive experience in communications or public affairs is required
- Level IV English fluency in speaking, reading and writing is required. (This will be tested.)
- Excellent ability to clearly and concisely write full range of informational and promotional materials, brochures, fliers, press releases, announcements, reports, letters and other items as assigned
- Able to speak to the press on programmatic matters is required
- Other skills including keyboarding, word processing, graphics, photography, interpersonal are also required
- An in-depth understanding of overall communications principles, guidelines and procedures related to the management of public relations is required
- Knowledgeable of governmental protocols, procedures and public relations strategies, and Zambia’s health programs is also required
