Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced applicants to fill the following vacant position in the Finance and Accounts Department.

ACCOUNTANT (1) ECZ3 HQ

Reporting to the Chief Accountant, the Accountant will ensure that all finance related transactions at the Service Centres are carried out in line with the existing financial regulations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure that all receipts for all cash, cheques, and electronic payments received at the Service Centre are correctly issued
  • Review all revenue GL codes being used are correct
  • Ensure that daily cash office reports and bank deposits slips are compiled and approved by relevant Officers
  • Approve reconciled daily cash office reports
  • Ensure that Service Centres file payment vouchers with supporting documents
  • Ensure that Finance Service Centre staff file receipts, bank deposits slips together with respective daily cash office reports
  • Ensure approval of daily, monthly, quarterly and annual Service Centre cash reports for all Service Centres
  • Review and approve request for reimbursement of funds utilized at the Service Centres
  • Monitor examination fees collection, and reconcile Grades 9, 12, and Teacher Education making fee payments
  • Pay grade 12 examiners and Teacher Education markers
  • Supervise Assistant Accountants based at Service Centres

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • School Certificate or its equivalent with at least a Credits or better in Mathematics
  • Full ACCA or CIMA or ZICA or Bachelor of Accountancy
  • Minimum of 4 years post qualifying experience in Finance inclusive of 2 years relevant work experience
  • Must be at least an Associate member of ZICA
