Action Africa Help Zambia Jobs: Head of Programs


Action Africa Help International (AAH-I) is a regional African-led non-governmental organisation that supports livelihood-challenged communities in East and Southern Africa to sustainably improve their well-being and standard of living. With Country Programmes in South Sudan, Uganda, Zambia, Somalia, and Kenya, AAH-I has over 20 years’ experience working with communities in conflict and post-conflict situations, including refugees, internally displaced people and host communities.

Action Africa Help Zambia is looking for a qualified, self-motivated and results oriented Head of Programs.

Reports to: Country Director

Liaises with: Programs Managers, Communications Officer and Finance and Administration Manager, Donor and Partner agencies, line Government Ministries and Departments.

Duty Station: Country Office-Lusaka

Job Summary:

The Head of Programs is responsible for program development, program financing and delivery. The incumbent shall demonstrate expertise and experience in resources mobilization and in working with UN agencies, EU, USAID, DFID, local Embassies and other donors funded projects. HE/She shall work in close consultations with the Country Director and Program team in program design and development of quality concept notes and proposals.

Ensure effective and efficient programs/projects implementation while achieving desired outcomes. He/she shall provide leadership and support to programs and country office staff and identify and actively participate in like-minded networks.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 8 years management experience in an NGO  environment, including significant field operations experience running both emergency and development programmes.
  • Masters degree in Development or other relevant fields
  • A very good understanding of  AAHZ  main program sectors; Basic services, health, food security and livelihoods, environment and  humanitarian.
  • Substantial experience and knowledge of effective financial and budgetary controls
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Sound experience in working with donors, international organizations and government entities.

  • Good knowledge of financial and administrative management
  • Personal commitment,drive for results,efficiency and flexibility
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office
  • Able to mentor and capacity build other staff.
