Call for Applications for Project Manager: NRM in Kawambwa

Action Africa Help International (AAH-I) is a regional African-led non-governmental organisation that supports livelihood-challenged communities in East and Southern Africa to sustainably improve their well-being and standard of living. With Country Programmes in South Sudan, Uganda, Zambia, Somalia, and Kenya, AAH-I has over 20 years’ experience working with communities in conflict and post-conflict situations. Between 2001 and 2012, AAH managed a refugee program following the closure of the camp in 2012. AAH has worked on maternal health, SRHR and natural resources programs.

As part of that effort Action Africa Help Zambia (AAHZ) has since 2016 implemented in Kawambwa, a natural resources project for the Civil Society Environment Fund (CSEF 2) called “Sustaining Environment and Natural Resources Management in Kawambwa (SENARK) project.” The project, whose purpose is to promote and strengthen community-based sustainable environment restoration and Natural Resources Management, is expected to improve communities’ livelihoods while contributing to poverty reduction among the rural poor.

It is for this reason that Action Africa Help Zambia is seeking a Project Manager.

1.1 Job Purpose

To manage the Kawambwa Field Office and Natural Resources Project

1.2 Report to

Country Manager

1.3 Job specifications

The Project Manager will perform the following functions:

  • Lead the Kawambwa office Technically and administratively
  • Ensure effective implementation of the Project workplan and budget
  • Lease research and innovations into the next phase of the project
  • Drive resource mobilisation for the Kawambwa office, including networking, concept development and proposal writing

1.4 Requirements for both of the above

1.5 Education

  • Applicants must at best have a degree in Natural Resources management, or a diploma plus 10 years of technical filed work experience and possess a broad appreciation of sustainable income generation programming for rural communities

1.6 Experience

  • At least 10 years of Project and field office management is required
  • Experience in concepts in health, sexual reproductive health and gender violence is extremely desired.

 

1.7 Competencies

  • Ability to lead a field office
  • Ability to undertake research and work independently
  • Can write concept notes and proposals

1.8 Technical competencies

  • Skills in use of internet for research
  • The research and innovations intern will act as the main resource to the innovation project leads for areas research, desk reviews and data analysis
  • Supporting the resource mobilisation team by ensuring progress in project development
