Introduction
Adexen HR and Recruitment services is looking to recruit 2 experienced oil spill response personnel for one of its clients in Angola. These personnel will act as team leaders to work predominately on shore in Luanda, on a 28 day on and 28 day off rotation, but may have to go afloat and /or offshore to deal with marine spills, hence they need to pass an Internationally recognized offshore medical and have or be able to pass a BOSIET/HEUT training course.

Job description
- Responsible for supervision and hands on leadership and mentoring of locals in marine oil spill response, giving training programs including undertaking training and exercises, reviewing contingency plans, equipment maintenance, as required to maintain an effective spill response capability and provide spill prevention advice.
- Responsible for spill response equipment mobilization, cleanup supervision and coordination, record keeping, investigation, reporting.
- Be part of a client’s Incident Management Team, to give guidance on spill response requirements
- Coordination of required sampling and testing necessary for filing appropriate reports.
- Supervise the response to marine oil spills offshore and in port.
- Undertake site safety risk assessments, and teach risk assessment procedures to others.
- Hold safety tool box talks and demonstrate safe working practices at all times with oneself and staff.
- Supervise taking and preserving samples for analysis with appropriate containers and preservation methods.
- Responsible for field implementation of waste management programs including waste manifest tracking.
- Verify that hazardous materials are handled, stored and disposed of in accordance with regulations.
- Organize and maintain records, track corrective actions to completion for both internal and agency inspections.
- Coordinate the day to day duties of equipment maintenance and response technicians
Requirements
- 5+ Years of experience in oil spill response, incident response or an environmentally appropriate position.
- Degree in marine science, engineering or related discipline, or STCW deck or marine engineering Class 2 CPC.
- In-depth knowledge and experience in some preferably all of marine oil spill response, contingency planning, spill response training and exercising, waste handling, spill prevention, site assessment and remediation.
- IMO OPRC Level 1 and 2 Certificate and /or OSHAS HazWOper Training or similar beneficial.
- Knowledge of oil field processes, equipment and safety requirements
- A good knowledge of Portuguese is a plus.
