Major Duties and Responsibilities
Advises the Executive Director in payment system related activities;
Oversees remittances payment and settlement system in Africa;
Identifies potential payment system related problem areas.
Design and propose improved remittance payment and settlement system in collaboration with central banks and other industry practitioners;
Prepare pilot-test implementation strategy of best practices and recommendations with appropriate implementation procedures whenever necessary;
Monitors and follow-up the implementations of best practices and recommendations;
Periodically assesses the impact of the technical assistance and capacity building
works on the improvement of payment system and flows of remittances;
Participates in the documentation and dissemination of best practices;
Prepares and submit periodic activity and mission reports;
Works collaboratively with other colleagues to achieve organizational goals;
Performs related activities assigned by the Executive Director.
Qualifications and Work Experience Required
Education/Training
- Candidates must hold Bachelor’s University Degree in Finance and Information Technology related fields.
- A Master’s in the aforementioned fields is an added advantage.
Experience
- Candidates must have at least 7 years of relevant working experience in Banking and Finance related works, of which at least 3 years should be at senior management level.
- Specific knowledge in payment and settlement systems/financial inclusion is highly desirable.
Other Technical Skills
- Working knowledge on payment and settlement systems;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to organize and motivate others and to work in a multi-cultural environment;
- Excellent drafting and reporting skills;
- Good communication and negotiating skills;
- Good planning and organizational skills.
- Firm belief in teamwork and gender equality;
- Proficiency in one of the African Union working languages.
- Knowledge of several other working language(s) would be an added advantage.
Language Requirement
- Proficiency in one of the AU working languages (English, French, Arabic and Portuguese) is a must.
- Knowledge of second or all of the other working languages would be an added advantage
Tenure of Appointment
The appointment will be made on a fixed term contract for a period of One Year (1), of which the first three (3) month will be considered as a probationary period.

Remuneration
The salary attached to the position is a fixed monthly lump sum of US$ 7,039.79 (P3 Step5) inclusive of all allowances for internationally recruited staff, and US$ 5,884.45 inclusive of all allowances for locally recruited staff.
