Position Summary

AIR International is seeking an Office Director and Researcher for our Zambia office to help manage our operations and provide monitoring and evaluation support to our projects. The Office Director/Researcher is assigned diverse tasks related to administration and operations across such areas as human resources management, purchasing and contracting, and general office administration, along with providing monitoring and evaluation support to our research projects. The Office Manager is a mid-level position that will report to the Country Director in Zambia and will oversee the work of the administrative and support staff. This position is located in Lusaka, Zambia.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

The duties listed in each category below are not exhaustive but are representative of the range of duties and responsibilities for the position.

  • Oversees general office administration and services including space management
  • Supervises and coordinates work of support staff
  • Maintains office files and records
  • Coordinates recruitment and prepares contracts for local staff and consultants
  • Manages and supports the preparation of workshops, training events and other project activities
  • Responsible for maintaining and checking the accuracy of data for assigned projects
  • Manage and train enumerators in developing countries to help collect data
  • Code and analyze quantitative or qualitative data, depending on the person’s methodological strengths
  • Utilize external resources to supplement, organize, and contribute to tasks and projects
  • Participate in business development activities

Qualifications and Experience  

  • A minimum of a Master’s Degree in business administration, international development, organizational management, economics, sociology, policy, anthropology, or related field
  • A minimum of (3) three years of work experience on international development projects in developing countries
  • Experience conducting process, performance, and/or impact evaluations of programs in developing countries
  • Knowledge of Nvivo or Atlas TI or other qualitative software package required OR
  • Knowledge of STATA statistical software package
  • Experience designing qualitative protocols (including those for participatory methods and action research), training enumerators, and presenting results to stakeholders OR
  • Experience designing quantitative surveys
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Knowledge of office management practices and administrative support processes required
  • Must be skilled in organizing tasks and timelines with multiple deadlines, setting priorities and problem-solving to mitigate conflicting deadlines
  • Must be able to prepare clear, concise and accurate records and reports in well-organized formats
  • Must be flexible concerning work schedules especially in peak periods of project activities
