JOB PURPOSE
Co-ordinate and provide planning/design inputs of the core network architecture, features, and services, Oversee overall governance of contractual execution of core Network operation, maintenance and optimization of Core Network
REPORTING TO THE NETWORKS SERVICES MANAGER, THE MAIN DUTIES ARE:
1. Co-ordinate and provide planning and control of initiatives, investment, capacity expansion of the core network nodes:
- Using commercial department forecasted subscriber base, to forecast required core network soft and hard capacities
- Establish OPCO typical mix of traffic per subscriber
- Build and enhance tools for traffic and Network Element calculation
- Monitor route utilization to provide forecasts aimed at providing headroom to control route congestion
- Support in development and execution of core network operational, expansion, and evolution
- Provision of POI (Point of interconnection) information to Interconnections partners to facilitate interconnection implementations
- Participate in initiatives aimed at optimizing core network CAPEX and OPEX in collaboration Optimisation Team of Managed service partner
- MSC/HLR/STP/MGW and other related node features and services optimization and capacity management
2. Provide Quarterly NCP (Network change plan) including any design changes forecasted on the core network:
- Provide BOQ output in liaison with the Managed Capacity Vendor or Core equipment vendor
- Following up extensions and Installation of core Network nodes
- Participate in commissioning of MSC/HLR/STP/MGW and other core nodes
- Ensure that all new MSC/HLR/STP/MGW and other core nodes implementations are documented, maintain MSC/HLR/STP/MGW specific documentation including:
- Updating, maintaining, and classifying Engineering documents and technical specifications (Translation tables, network signaling/trunk diagrams, core network LLD & HLD, Interconnection with other PLMN, VAS, IN and third party equipment, DDF mapping, and specs, naming rules)
- Record all core network projects in project folders (specs, schedules, minutes, documentations)
- Keep log of quarterly network changes effected on Core network nodes
- Observation of KPI as a pro-active measure to prevent service degradation and most specifically after network interventions
- Routine monitoring and auditing of core network configuration maintained by the Managed Services Partner and report any anomalies
- Support to establishment of Key Performance Indicators KPI for core nodes
- Support to Marketing department on new services development
3. Assist in Governance of the core Network changes:
- Assist in core network projects
- Propose and participate in network Integration of Switching Core Network Elements and Circuit Switched services
- Evaluation of Network and Service implications prior integration of new Circuit switches, extensions on core nodes or node service releases
- Co-ordinations of implementations of products/specification documents from Marketing
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION & FUNCTIONAL/TECHNICAL SKILLS
- University Degree in telecommunications or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years working experience in the Telecommunications sector
- Able to operate in a performance-driven organization
- Experience in the use of Microsoft Office suite of applications

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE

- Hands-on Experience on Switches (Translation tables, Service Implementation, fault diagnostic and fixing Signalization in WCDMA/GSM Networks
- Works under minimal supervision determine and develops approaches to solutions with approval
