Airtel Zambia is currently looking for suitably qualified person to fill in the position of;

Job Title: Buyer

Job purpose

Ensure value for money in the procurement of capital goods, supplies and services for the efficient running of the Network and IT at the lowest total cost of ownership for all assets within required specifications.

Reporting to : The Procurment Manager

The Successful Candidate Will;

  •  Order goods and services in line with approved purchasing requests
  •  Prepare bid specs, issues bid requests & review bid proposals & quotes
  •  Identifies and selects vendors to procure requisitioned goods/services meeting specific criteria
  •  Negotiates agreements, purchase terms and conditions
  •  Ensures that procurement policy and quality objectives are applied
  •  Administers agreements
  •  Continually follows up the orders and updates users on status
  •  Vendor management in accordance with company guidelines
  •  Keep accurate data on all purchases related to category
  •  Develop, prepare and maintain relevant (management) reports, spend analysis, savings, and reporting value improvements with category
  •  Conduct supplier evaluation and share results with supervisor for effective management of suppliers
  •  Maintain procurement contract administration
  •  Keeps contract up to date
  •  Informs management about contract expiration
  •  Provide accurate information and guidance to managers and other staff
  •  Maintains effective communication with managers and other staff to ensure compliance with procurement policy
  •  Interpret purchase procedures to departments and vendors
  •  Supports the planning, budgeting and goal setting processes to establish procurement goals
  •  Works with departments to review/qualify & optimize supply opportunities
  •  Contributes to resolution of purchase related problems between department

Requirements

  •  Degree in any Business Related field and/or CIPS Post Graduate Diploma
  •  Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar
  •  Experience in the GSM/Mobile telecommunications industry is an added advantage
  •  Excellent negotiation skills with proven ability to save costs
  •  Functional knowledge in SCM operations
  •  Able to handle, prioritize, multiple project simultaneously
  •  Customer centric
  •  Preferably knowledge on ERP/Oracle for SCM
  •  Excellent in MS Office
  •  Able to operate in a performance driven organisation
