Job Title: Business Planning and Analysis Manager

Purpose
Provide management with information relevant to aid decision making and steer the company towards being a profitable entity.

Reporting to the commercial controller, the main duties are:

Planning & Forecasting

  • Build AOP Financials, based on functional and Operational Inputs
  • Monthly/Quarterly Analysis of Variance
  • Prepare 3 /5 year plan as appropriate

Daily Reporting Process – CWN and Zonal CWN

  • Timely and accurate reporting of CWN daily.
  • Issue zonal CWN report
  • Performance analysis highlighting function-wise areas of concerns and improvements
  • Review and follow up on Daily CWNs and KPI Deck. Highlight any risks and opportunities to the achievement of the AOP/F&F, to the Opco leadership for decision on corrective actions

Monthly & Quarterly Reporting Packs

  • Prepare Functional review decks,
  • Monthly review deck for Board
  • Quarterly Review deck for Audit Committee
  • Preparation of monthly business support reports e.g. Site Profitability reports
  • Review site profitability and track action plans for turnaround from sales, marketing & networks

MAPA Review Process

  • Review of Finance MAPA and coordination of Zonal MAPA to drive and monitor the delivery of the AOP.
  • Review and signoff of monthly MAPA and other functional MAPA’s

Opex / Capex Tracking and Analysis

  • Controlling Opex / Capex approvals and updating functions on their YTD spent status
  • Obtain appropriate approvals for any cost over runs-
  • Budgetary Check and evaluation of all Capex investment.

Flash & Forecast process

  • Coordination of the flash and forecast process with functional heads to have an understating of the expected performance of the current month and the remaining months of the financial year.
  • Drive Planning & forecasting efficiency (PET score)
  • Review and sign off monthly flash and forecast and ensure that the F&F is a realistic estimate of the coming month’s performance as agreed by the EC and is issued as per timeline

External Benchmarking

  • Issue quarterly competitor analysis
  • Monthly Market share reporting and analysis
  • Validate correctness of reported RMS and CMS numbers and highlight concerns and opportunities
  • Implement a robust Quarterly benchmarking process (internal and competitor)

Engaged Employees

  • Develop and motivate team members through structured training and on the job coaching
  • Establish performance expectations and regularly review individual performance

Required skill and knowledge

Educational Qualifications & Functional / Technical Skills

  • Graduate & Post-graduate degrees in Economics and Finance;
  • Professional qualification in Accounting
  • Registered member of ZICA
  • Relevant Experience (Type of experience and minimum number of years)
  • 5 to 10 years post qualification experience
  • 6 + years of experience in FMCG or Telecoms in a similar role
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience at Senior Manager level
  • In-depth knowledge of the telecoms industry.
  • Strong Analytical skills & MS Excel proficiency
