The WASH Deputy Program Manager will assist in the planning, coordination, development and oversight of a national level surveillance platform. This position will liaise with stakeholders from the donor organization, key actors within central channels of MLGH and MCDMCH, District Health Management Teams (DHMTs), and Akros senior management to facilitate program objectives and optimize resource flow.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate WASH/CLTS trainings and supervision efforts at national, Provincial and district levels
- Monitor WASH progress through IMS
- On a routine basis, assess whether project activities are sufficient to achieve proposed outcomes; develop and validate alternate strategies if not
- Participate in WASH-related advocacy events as necessary
- Manage team relationships and group dynamics, and implement performance management process for all program staff
- Identify best practices and improve internal systems with an eye toward future needs and budget realities
- Develop forms and records to document program activities
- Supervise program staff by providing direction, input and feedback
- Liaise with program manager to ensure the effective and efficient program delivery
Outcomes & Tasks
Improve timely reporting rates and key indicators
- Identify best practices among SO’s through supervision visits and support information exchange
- Develop programs to respond to challenges at district or ward level that will improve performance against key indicators
Improve data cleaning and data quality
- Support SO’s in data cleaning and checking data quality
- Liaise with SO’s, district and provincial levels to improve cleanly data
- Assist with adding org units, assigning users and data sets on an ongoing basis
Qualifications
- degree (required) or Master’s degree (highly preferred) in relevant field
- 5+ years’ experience with program management in developing countries
- Strong experience working with donors and national structures and managing a dynamic team
- Self-starter who will thrive through exemplifying ownership and initiative
- Excellent technical writing, quantitative and critical thinking skills
- Excellent skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Candidate should be highly productive and internally motivated
