Our Client a mining company based on the Copperbelt province, seeks to recruit a Supply Chain Manager. The CFO is responsible for directing the fiscal functions of the mine in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles issued by IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) and accepted by Zambia governing body (ZICA) and ZRA and other regulatory and advisory organizations and in accordance with financial management techniques and practices appropriate within EMR Capital. The core of this position is to:

  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the Company’s fiscal function and performance;
  • Develop credibility for the Department by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and financial forecasts to assist the CEO, the Board and other senior executives in performing their responsibilities;
  • Continual improvement of the budgeting and forecasting process through education of department managers on financial issues impacting department budgets;
  • Enhance and/or develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures of the Company by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the Mine;
  • Ensure the business comply with all statutory reporting;
  • Evaluate the department structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as provide individuals with professional and personal growth;
  • Manage cashflow and debt financing to ensure that the mine has sufficient financial capacity to deliver on its growth plan;
  • Manage relationships with the Ministry of Finance and ZRA to ensure both compliances with all laws but also timely refunding of VAT;
  • Manage the Supply and Stores function to deliver against customer KPI’s at the same time as managing cashflow, cost of goods and inventory;
  • Ensure that financial systems, software and hardware are reliable, meeting business needs and are cost effective; and
  • Manage the Company Secretarial and Legal functions.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate financial reports and statements of the company, weekly, monthly and annually;
  • Manage business finance (cash flow/supplier & customer management and supply chain);
  • Maintain a budgetary control system and investigation of variances between actual and budgeted results;
  • Analyse and recommend to Management capital expenditure project proposals so that only justifiable projects are undertaken;
  • Payroll administration effective, accurate and timeous;
  • Information Technology appropriate to the needs of the business, available at all times to all users;
  • Ensure effective supply chain operations systems and procedures whereby the right quality items are available at the right time, purchased at the right price;
  • Inventory management to ensure investment in inventory is optimized;
  • Ensure that the mine has in place appropriate systems, resources and network availability to address the needs of the business, without compromising on time and quality;
  • Implement and ensure continuous good governance and control mechanisms (appropriate systems of internal controls covering all departments within the business);
  • Identify and implement sound risk management and insurance practices.
    Ensure adequate policies and procedures and enforcement to safeguard all assets of the company;
  • Oversee security at operation;
  • Maintain company records system, including all licenses and contractors and policies regarding such records;
  • Ensure regulatory framework is n place to track compliance to all legislation relevant to the business; and
  • Ensure company secretarial duties are maintained, complying with all legislative requirements, but also requirements of other stakeholders (shareholders or Board of Directors) or management.

Qualification Required

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and Commerce and Professional qualification in (e.g. ACCA, CIMA or ZCA and/ or Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance); and
  • Must be a membership of Zambia Institute Chartered Accountants.

Experience

  • Minimum of 15 years demonstrated practical experience in industry and 5 years at Senior management level; and
  • Hands on experience in the use of accounting software.
