Working in Zambia since 1996, Plan International Zambia’s development and capacity building programmes focus primarily on Education, Health, Water and Sanitation, Economic Security and Youth Empowerment, including Child Protection and Participation. Plan International Zambia has programme areas (PAs) in; Central, Luapula, and Eastern Provinces including Lusaka, where the Country Office is located.

We are looking for experienced, vibrant and self-starters to fill the following position:

Assistant Project Coordinator- Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (Central, Luapula & Eastern Provinces) 11 positions

Position Description

This position exists to design and implement all emergency and recovery nutrition related activities at district level using participatory and community based approaches. S/he is responsible for Developing effective quality improvement standards and approaches for improved quality of clinical nutrition care services in collaboration with partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Participating in the district level Nutrition Technical Working Group
  • Providing technical support for Ministry Of Health staffs in the development and dissemination of messages promoting nutrition and Infant Young Children Feeding programme related practices and behaviours targeted
  • Developing effective quality improvement standards and approaches for improved quality of clinical
  • Ensure Nutrition activities are carried out in the Nutrition Program according to Plan’s & national protocols
  • To collaborate and communicate with other Plan program officers (WASH, livelihoods, logistics, etc) to ensure harmonization of activities according to Plan’s mission strategy
  • To collaborate with local authorities and community for the acceptance of programs and activities particularly at district level required coordination and supports
  • To collaborate with the health NGOs running local health clinics to set-up and strengthen referral and treatment links of beneficiaries to health facilities
  • To establish and oversee links with other facilities and programs in the area (for example, GFD, school feeding, food for recovery/work programs) where appropriate.

Qualifications

  • BSC in Health, Nursing, Nutrition and other relevant fields of study
  • Minimum over 4 year’s relevant experience and with this at least 2 years relevant experience in an international NGO or similar organization
  • Knowledge of policy and practice in the field of emergency nutrition intervention using IMAM approach, Infant Young Children Feeding program and health.
  • Experience in developing and monitoring budgets.
  • Computer literate in word processing and excel packages.
  • An understanding of child rights and their protection and fulfilment in the development context.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; both in English & local language
