AUDITIONS FOR CHILD AND ADULT VOICE ACTORS – USAID LET’S READ

Let’s Read is a project funded by USAID and aims to improve literacy levels for children in kindergarten and Grades 1-3 in Zambian GRZ and community schools in five (5) provinces using a combination of print, audio and video teaching and learning materials in one of the following local languages:

Chitonga, Ichibemba, Silozi, Lunda, Kikaonde, Luvale and Chinyanja. The project is developing a number of Interactive Audio Instruction (IAI) programmes and stories, as well as instructional materials for use by teachers and students and is therefore looking for local talent for child and voice actors.

Scope of Work:

  • Able to act using culturally positive and appropriate ch aracterizations
  • Creative and experienced; able to improvise clear emotions for audio while acting
  • Able to change voices, accordingly, creating a natural and true life for each character
  • Able to read fluently in at least one of 7 local languages cited above. Proper pronunciation and expression will be a key requirement to successfully deliver these programmes. High energy and hard work as well as ability to engage with an audience required
  • Pronunciations, local words and tones carefully developed. Read and act simultaneously, well and naturally
  • Able to adhere to set recording times as per provided schedule and demonstrate timeliness for recording sessions
  • Able to work with producers and radio technicians. Open minded to making changes while recording by working in close cooperation with production team
  • Keep a personal record that includes dates and times for each recording
  • Child actors must have written consent from parents/legal guardians to record for either audio or video formats
  • Experience in acting (radio or theater)
  • Prior experience as an actor (radio/theatre) a plus
  • Fluent language speakers ot Lunda, Luvale, KiKaonde and Silozi actors based in provinces where the languages are spoken are encouraged to apply.

Female school teacher (lively voice, ability to motivate learners on radio and able to read fluently in one ofthe 7 local languages)

Male child (Active, talented and able to read fluently in one ofthe 7 local languages)

Female child (Lively, energetic voice and able to read fluently in one ofthe 7 local languages)

Middle -aged male (Ability to tell stories in an exciting and fun way for the children, clear and fatherly voice and able to read fluently in one of the 7 local languages)
