The Bankers Association of Zambia (BAZ) is an industry body representing the 19 registered Commercial Banks in Zambia. These include both Zambian and international banks. The Bankers Association of Zambia is the mandated representative of the commercial banking sector and addresses industry issues such as lobbying, policy influence, and guiding transformation in the sector. BAZ also acts as a catalyst for constructive and sustainable change in the sector, research and development and does engage with critical stakeholders like the Government of Zambia, Bank of Zambia as the Banks primary regulator, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Pensions and Insurance Authority (PIA) and the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission. BAZ works to ensure the banking industry views are put forward when Government determines policy or legislation. The association also ensures the banking system can continue to deliver the benefits of competition to the Zambian banking customers. BAZ are currently looking for a qualified “Bookkeeper/ Administrative Assistant”.

Job Title: Bookkeeper/ Administrative Assistant


Responsibilities

  • To provide administrative support, purchasing, making payments, maintaining accounts and managing office operations other administrative related matters for the Bankers Association of Zambia
  • As a Bookkeeper/ Administrative Assistant you will be expected to carry out the following duties and responsibilities:-
  • Preparing meeting minutes, compile and keep records
  • Preparing documents for meetings, printing, photocopying, and binding
  • Updating and maintaining filling system for easy retrieve of letters and documents
  • Accurate diary management and ensure no meetings are missed
  • Supporting organizing of events and seminars, including managing attendee lists, filling and editing videos of events
  • Controlling the delivery of letters and other important documents
  • Preparing staff payroll
  • Preparing payment requisitions and writing of cheques and taking them for signing to Authorized Signatories and distributing to suppliers and service providers
  • Taking instructions to the bank and making payments
  • Posting transactions to the general ledger
  • Reconciling bank accounts and petty cash
  • Replenishing office supplies for the Secretariat
  • Keeping and disbursing petty cash
  • Maintenance and reconciling the fixed asset register
  • Ensure all statutory obligations and payments are made to all relevant offices such as NAPSA, ZRA, Registrar of Societies, Personal Levy and Workers Compensation
  • Any other responsibilities assigned by the Chief Executive Officer

Qualifications

  • NATech or intermediate level ACCA/ CIMA (Level 1) Bachelor’s Degree in Business related course will be an added advantage
  • Grade 12 School Certificate with five (5) ‘0’ Levels (Credit or better including English & Mathematics)
    Good Written and communication skills
  • Self-confidence, good workload management and ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment Knowledge of Pastel payroll and accounting software
