Reporting to: Superintendent – Emergence Response Lumwana Mining Company Limited (LMC), a copper mining company owned by Barrick Gold Corporation is situated in the North Western region of Zambia, some 300 km west of the Zambian Copperbelt and 95 km south west of the provincial capital of Solwezi. The mine is a multi-pit, multi-staged operation mining approximately 100MT of ore and waste per annum and producing copper concentrates containing an average of 120,000 tonnes of copper metal per year over a twenty (20) year mine life, making Lumwana the largest single open cut copper mine in Africa. The Company is now looking for an experienced and qualified individual to be considered for the position of Emergency Response Field Medic.

Role SummaryReporting to the Superintendent – Emergence Response, your duties will include but not limited to the following;

Responsibilities

 

  • Respond to all emergencies and provide Pre- Hospital emergency medical care to the active Mine site and Lumwana Mine Township
  • Provide On-scene Patient stabilization and management including drug administration where applicable
  • Manage /conduct Ambulance transfers on and off-Site including response to on-call services for back shifts and special site events
  • Assist Doctor (s) in Patient assessment at Clinics post transport and attend Clinics in a confidential/ Professional manner when required
  • Conduct weekly training for on Site ER Technicians in emergency medical Services progression from Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Develop emergency medical services standard operating procedures (SOP) and protocols
  • Maintain serviceability of all associated ER medical equipment and manage the records accordingly including Annual Services by the OEMs for compliance
  • Conduct monthly audits on medical stocks for ERT and recommend order placement of new stocks when Absolutely Critical
  • Compile Reports for emergency activations and review the trend; weekly, monthly and annually

Experience & Qualifications

  • Diploma in Emergency Medical Care or equivalent
  • Computer Literate
  • At least 3 years work experience in emergency Services preferably in mining Industry or remote site
  • Valid Driver license
  • Member of a reputable Health Professional Council
