Lumwana Mining Company Limited (LMC), a copper mining company owned by Barrick Gold Corporation is situated in the North Western region of Zambia, some 300 km west of the Zambian Copperbelt and 95 km south west of the provincial capital of Solwezi. The mine is a multi-pit, multi staged operation mining approximately 100MT of ore and waste per annum and producing copper concentrates containing an average of 120,000 tonnes of copper metal per year over a twenty (20) year mine life, making Lumwana the largest single open cut copper mine in Africa. The Company is now looking for an experienced and qualified individual to be considered for the position of Fitter LV Workshop.
Job Title: Fitter LV Workshop
Location: Lumwana Mine, Solwezi, Zambia.
Reporting to: Workshop Supervisor
Role Summary
Reporting to the Workshop supervisor, you will assist the Supervisor in establishment of preventative and responsive maintenance and development within the mining area and across the site, to ensure maximum operational performance is achieved in a safe and cost effective manner while ensuring compliance with relevant procedures, polices, legal requirements and consent conditions.
Responsibilities
- Personally demonstrate a positive attitude towards working safely.
- Responsible for the day to day mechanical maintenance of light vehicles.
- Review of maintenance tasks and procedures including JSA’s and SOP’s.
- Maintain a professional work ethic through effective, honest communication with supervisors, peers, and operations personnel at all times.
- The position will be expected to positively impact and contribute to the performance of the company through leadership and individual activity.
- Plan, schedule and monitor work of support personnel to assist immediate supervisor.
- Provide resources and create a working environment that encourages personnel to actively contribute to safety, health and environmental affairs by managing risk in compliance with company objectives, policies, procedures, safe work practices, and relevant regulations.
- Actively participate in identification and implementation of projects that demonstrate working in an environment of continuous improvement.
- Ensure personal and team compliance with statutory acts and regulations and consent conditions.
- Participate in development of personal training strategies and undertake appropriate training modules.
- Carry out administrative functions commensurate with the role.
- Achievement of maintenance targets in the most cost effective manner within budgets
Experience & Qualifications
- Recognised qualification in relevant field
- Minimum of 5 years in maintaining cranes from 30t to 450t.
- Experience in Groves and Terex crawler cranes.
- Experience in maintenance of light vehicles.
- 2 years’ experience preferably in the mining industry or a mineral processing industry role.
- Ability to show initiative and have good interpersonal skills.
- Must have a current driver’s license.
- Able to pass pre-employment medical.
- Must have good communication skills in the English language.
- Must be familiar with safe working practices
