The Workers’ Compensation Fund Control Board (WCFCB) is a social security scheme responsible for compensating workers in respect of accidents suffered and diseases contracted during the course of employment in accordance with the provisions of the Workers’ Compensation Act No. 10 of 1999 of the Laws of Zambia.

The Workers’ Compensation Fund Control Board invites applications from suitably qualified Zambian citizens to fill the following vacant position.

BENEFITS OFFICER

To supervise, control and manage the Branch Benefits Section in the administration of disability claims, to ensure compliance to the provisions of the Workers’ Compensation Act of 1999.

B. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Timely review of submitted accident reports for completeness, accuracy and availability of relevant support docurnents and issues the claims acknowledgment form (CAF) prior to capturing on the system.
  • Ensures accuracy and completeness of the information relating to claimants, pensioners and dependants and any other beneficiary information to guarantee membership data integrity.
  • Ensures that all submitted claims (accident report, medical refunds, unpaid pension, pension advance & periodical payments) are checked against the Claims and Pensions checklist for the relevant support documents prior to issuance of the CAF & capturing on the system.
  • Facilitates the convening of medical assessment boards.
  • Attends to walk-in clients and ensures that their issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Initiates all claims and pensions processes on the system and ensures timely escalation for further processing.
  • Regularly reviews all outstanding claims in the system and advises his immediate supervisor on the status of each individual case.
  • Identifies cases needing data cleaning and then initiates the necessary processes on the system to normalize their status
  • Ensures proper record keeping of beneficiaries’ information.
  • Responsible for the timely provision of responses to audit queries relating to claimants and beneficiaries
  • Appraises business plans and project proposals for beneficiaries applying for commutations.
  • Inspects business activities and projects funded through commutations to ensure that beneficiaries are applying funds on intended activities.
  • Receives requests for medical aid items and delivers appropriate medical aid items to beneficiaries as assigned from time to time.
  • Keeps accurate record of beneficiaries receiving various rehabilitation services including; constant attendance allowance (CAA), return to work services, shoes, artificial limbs, walking aids and assorted surgical items.
  • Carries out the evacuation of beneficiaries to receive various services provided under the Workers’ Compensation Fund Control Board’s injury scheme.
  • Establish a good relationship with the local paying agents to ensure that the quick resolution of beneficiaries’ complaints.
  • Provides inputs for the weekly, monthly. quarterly and annual reports to the immediate supervisor
  • Performs any other duties as assigned by Management from time to time.

C. JOB REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must have the following:

  • Grade Twelve (12) Certificate with five (5) credits or better which should include English and Mathematics.
  • Degree in Social Work or equivalent.
  • Must have valid Driving Licence.
  • At least three (3) years relevant work experience.
