Job purpose and key deliverables British American Tobacco has an exciting opportunity for a Finance Analyst (Stores Controller) to join our team in Lusaka.Main responsibilities:

  • Assist the Assistant Commercial Finance Manager with the management and coordination of the Operations Finance activities;
  • Effective management of Customs and Excise to not expose BAT Zambia to unnecessary interest or penalties;
  • Effective and robust reconciliations of inventory, Customs and Excise and the OTIF payment of the company’s Excise obligations;
  • Ensure all long outstanding reconciling items are cleared/resolved
  • To drive a robust control environment within the business, especially within Operations. Active participant in the monthly inventory stock counts. Ensure the controls are robust and executed to ensure the Completeness, Accuracy and validity of Inventory, Product Cost, Royalties and Excise.
  • To manage and control all BAT Zambia Stocks by ensuring robust adherence to the stock Policy;
  • Execute all ad-hoc activities as requested by the line manager that will promote the operational effectiveness of the Finance Department;
  • Assist the Corporate Finance team with month end closure, Fixed Assets and General Ledger review.
Essential requirements Essential requirements:

  • Bachelor ‘s Degree in Accountancy, ZICA Licentiate, ACCA II or CIMA II;
  • A taxation qualification will be an added advantage;
  • An ability to work effectively with all levels of staff within the company and externally;
  • Good interpersonal relationships and communication skills;
  • Good user knowledge of SAP.
Desirable requirements

  • Acceptance as a key member of the Operations Finance team
  • Accurate and timely Customs & Excise reconciliations with no unresolved issues
  • Appropriate control environment and records management in line with policy
  • Timely and appropriate communication with staff, Revenue Authorities, suppliers etc.
  • Ensure integration of Operations and Finance activities/strategies
