Purpose of the position

The purpose of the role is to have full ownership and accountability for all technology platforms within the IDEAS program. This is a senior project leadership role that will lead and oversee a team of senior, mid-level and junior software developers and software vendor contractors who will be responsible for designing, developing, evaluating and testing the technology platforms related to the National Electronic Health Records System; Interoperability and Integration of various Health Information Systems as well as National Health Data repositories.

Key Accountabilities

Key accountabilities for the role include but are not limited to:

  • Delivering high quality product releases per roadmap priorities and desired timelines with an attention to speed
  • Ensuring there is a systematic design and architecture process to ensure the right decisions are made for a sustainable and scalable product
  • Taking control of and drive all software deliverables
  • Partnering with program stakeholders to collaborate on a product plan that delivers continuous innovation and addresses current and future customer and market needs
  • Ensuring continuous engineering improvement through mentoring, feedback, and metrics
  • Leading a collaborative agile software development process that is fast moving with world class quality
  • Creating and delivering presentations as needed to key company and client stakeholders
  • Setting clear, measurable quality goals
  • Persistently addressing client concerns, and collaborate with program stakeholders to ensure we are addressing client needs and optimising our technology platforms
  • Communicating clearly with technology and other functional teams regarding timelines, issues, and plans
  • Communicating and celebrating customer success stories that are addressing needs solved by the technology platform
  •  Managing all 3rd party software vendor relationships
  • Developing clear change plans for the roll out of product enhancements or changes

Qualifications

Essential qualifications

  • Postgraduate degree in Computer Science or any technology related field

Desirable qualifications

  • Master’s degree

Experience & skills

  • 7-10 years in a high growth business developing technology platforms
  • Experience designing system architecture, developing, and delivering large scale on-premise products that communicate with central server infrastructure
  • Managing multiple complex projects on different life cycles
  • Solid experience hiring and developing technical talent
  • Exposure to both strategic and operational software development
  • Experience in a senior leader role managing and leading software engineering teams
  • Experience in managing a software business budget
  • Experience in an agile software development environment, understands scrums and lean agile methodologies
