Position 1: Chief of Party (Harare)

Reporting to: The Country Representative

Job Summary

The USAID-funded Zimbabwe Assistance Program in Malaria will strengthen the capacity of the National Malaria Control Programme (NMCP) at national, provincial, district, and/or community levels. This project is intended to promote quality malaria case management and prevention of malaria during pregnancy (MIP), specifically at health facilities but also with other cadres at the community level as indicated by NMCP priorities, while also, formulating evidence-based national health policies, strategies, systems, and programs to prevent malaria through distribution, ownership, and correct, consistent, and increases use of long-lasting insecticide treated nets.
The Chief of Party will provide leadership to the project and technical throughout the implementation period. This will include partner management, collaboration with NMCP, USAID, relevant government ministries as well as all project stakeholders. S/he will be responsible for project inputs, program strategy, external representation and coordination with project counterparts, USAID, host country contacts, other donors within the sector and other programs as necessary. In addition, the Chief of Party will be responsible for compliance with the agreement results and the oversight of project activities which will meet the stated objectives of the project

Requirements

  • MPH or advanced degree in another health related field.
  • A background in public health with program management experience and malaria experience would meet essential criteria.
  • 10 years of experience or equivalent managing and implementing health care programs in international settings, preferably in Africa.
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills.

    Position 2: Technical Director And Malaria Specialist

         Reporting to: The Chief of Party
Job Summary

The Technical Director and Malaria Specialist will provide technical support to quality malaria case management and prevention of malaria during pregnancy (MIP), specifically at health facilities but also with other cadres at the community level as indicated by NMCP priorities. S/he will support the formulation of evidence-based national health policies, strategies, systems, and programs to prevent malaria through distribution, ownership, and correct, consistent, and increased use of long-
lasting insecticide treated nets. S/he will provide support malaria surveillance, monitoring and evaluation, and operational research activities in conjunction with national malaria programs and other partners to assess the efficacy / effectiveness of currently deployed malaria control tools. In addition, s/he will be expected to provide relevant input to therapeutic efficacy trials together with the Ministry of Health and Child Care and partners on artemisinin-based combination therapy (ACT)
medicines to monitor malaria drug resistance, a critical, sentinel taskforZimbabwe and for all malarious areas worldwide.

Requirements

  • Preferred qualifications: MD, DVM, or MPH/PhD, with strong background in malaria epidemiology is preferred.
  • Background in malaria prevention and treatment programs essential
  • Ability to mobilize and coordinate partners around selected malaria intervention policies, approaches and indicators
  • Experience with planning, implementation, data management, and research/study analysis and interpretation Preferred
  • Strong experience in results dissemination and publication is preferred
  • Proficiency in English written and oral communication skills.

                    Position3 : Finance And Operations Manager (Harare)
                    Reporting to: The Chief of Party

Job Summary

The Finance and Operations Manager will be responsible for ensuring project adherence to USG financial rules and regulations. He/she will oversee project finances and operations in accordance with relevant USAID regulations and in line with CRS’ financial and operations management policy provisions. The Finance and Operations Manager will be responsible for providing quarterly financial report, including pipeline analysis.

Requirements

  • Degree and certification in Accounting or other related field.
  • Previous experience managing financial and legal requirements of USA ID project is essential
  • Previous experience working with local organisations as part of sub grants / subcontracts preferred.
  • At least 7 years of experience in Accounting or other related field
  • Proficiency in English written and oral communication skills.
