A Lodge in Livingstone
Our small lodge has a restaurant and bar catering to guests in our lodge as well as from the outside community. Our objective is to offer superb food and great service to our guests. We endeavour to observe sustainability principles in the provision of meals, which implies a focus on local, seasonal and healthy ingredients, as well as an avoidance of unnecessary wastage. To maintain high standards in our restaurant we require the right person for the position of Chef.
Requirements
- Highly motivated and passionate about food
- Demonstrates creativity and flare in food production
- Can meet international standards in presentation and flavour
- Works well under pressure and maintains consistency in meal preparation
- Requires little supervision and works well with others
- Detail-oriented and efficient in daily duties
- Meticulous in maintaining highest standards of hygiene
Duties
- Cooking (all areas), food presentation and menu planning
- Utilizing and preserving produce from lodge garden
- Creating spice blends, sauces, preserves, etc for future use
- Ordering food and kitchen supplies
- Maintaining a clean kitchen that complies with health, food & safety standards
- Supervising kitchen assistants
- Costing and pricing
- Performing other jobs as required
- Chef hours will be flexible
- You will be frequently scheduled to work on weekends and public holidays
Qualifications
- Minimum Grade 12 School Certificate
- Diploma in Professional Cookery or equivalent
- Knowledge of all areas in cooking (hot, cold, desserts etc.)
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a chef, with an untarnished reputation
