Detailed Job Description:

  1. Ensure adequate preparation for delivery of lessons, module tests and laboratory demonstrations as indicated by given timetables.
  2. Teach across a range of modules/units or within a subject area using appropriate teaching, learning support and assessment methods and technologies.
  3. Apply as appropriate student-centered learning approaches in the delivery of lessons, tutorials, and demonstrations.
  4. Ensure effective assessment and re-assessment of student performance as deemed necessary. B18
  5. Making available for upload the subject reading materials (Readings online via Library/LMS)
  6. Overseeing marking/feedback (running moderation sessions/double marking for consistency of marking and feedback)
  7. Managing students’ final results
  8. Managing laboratory assistants
  9. Providing teaching resources and guidance to relevant laboratory assistants
  10. Designing appropriate laboratory session content
  11. Provide student consultation
  12. Seek ways of improving performance by reflecting on teaching design and delivery and obtaining and analyzing feedback.
  13. Undertake internal roles of responsibility e.g. contribute to committees and working parties
  14. Contribute to the design and production of teaching, learning and assessment materials.
  15. Monitor and report student attendance, progress/conduct.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors in Chemistry or related field.
  • Master of Science in Chemistry
  • Minimum 2-4 years of teaching experience.
