Job Title: Power BI Developer Consultant

Reporting to: Collaboration, Learning and Adaption Manager

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • The incumbent will integrate Medical Stores Limited (MSL) Stock Status data into the data warehouse for use in analytics tool;
  • Create Visual displays and trend reports in analytics tool utilizing logistics data to show stock status information on facility-level commodity availability;
  • Devise Visual displays and trend reports in analytics tool using logistics data to highlight reporting rates for various logistics systems;
  • Develop Geospatial maps to show stockout trends/distribution across Zambia;
  • Coordinate training data for integration into the data warehouse and visual displays to show training trends and highlight key information;
  • Maintaining of Months of Stock (MOS) Map visuals and trends in analytics tool highlighting central level commodity availability;
  • Develop project dashboards in analytics tool based on requirements.

Minimum Qualifications, Experience, and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information systems, Statistics or related field with 3-5 years’ experience executing Business Intelligence tasks or an equivalent combination of education and experience required;
  • Master’s degree in Computer science, Information systems or other advanced degrees with strong quantitative and analytical content will be added advantage plus a specific training in database management;
  • Minimum 3 years of Database design, development, and Management including experience developing Power BI solutions and reporting and Data Visualization and Analysis;
  • Experience working with dataset ingestion, data model creation, reports, dashboards, KPIs, Power BI Pro features, workspaces, security, etc.;
  • ETL, SSAS and SSIS experience;
  • Strong data modeling and building data marts experience;
  • Experience working with a variety of stakeholders, from managers to technical resources, to include the translation of business requirements into operational measures and reports;
  • Experience working with ArcGIS Maps for Power BI;
  • Agile/Scrum project experience;
  • Working knowledge of Business Intelligence standards and best practices;
  • Strong experience at writing SQL for querying a database;
  • Strong understanding of dimensional data modeling;
  • Working knowledge of SQL optimization capabilities;
  • Experienced in developing stored procedures;
  • Knowledge of USAID funding and its contractual and reporting requirements required experience working on USAID-funded health programs preferred;
  • Strong data analysis skills required;
  • Ability to work in team setting required; previous experience managing or supervising preferred;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills;
  • High level of demonstrable proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including Power Query and Power Pivot;
  • Connections to external data sources, REST APIs, pivot tables, charts, and slicers;
  • Proven ability to create, publish, and manage content packs;
  • Deep understanding of security as it pertains to data access, scope, and distribution of reports and Dashboards;
  • Experience in mentoring/training/coaching others in technical concepts.

Timeframe

  • This consultancy should take a maximum of six months (120 days) to complete all the tasks. The timeframe will be from September 2018 to February 2019.
