Chemonics International Inc Latest Job Vacancy: Human Resource Specialist


Chemonics International Inc., Contractor for USAID Global Health Supply Chain Program – Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) ensures uninterrupted supplies of health commodities in support of USG-funded public health initiatives around the world. The project provides direct procurement and supply chain management support to the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), the President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI), and Population and Reproductive Health. In supporting USG-funded global health activities, PSM develops and manages a wide array of services for health commodity procurement and related systems strengthening technical assistance encompassing different elements of a comprehensive supply chain. The project seeks to recruit the position of:

Human Resource Specialist

  • Support full cycle recruitment process in compliance with established procedures and regulations, including but not limited to: coordinating job descriptions and interview questions, shortlisting and pre-screening candidates, conducting reference checks, and processing offers of employment
  • Assist HR manager to ensure all files are compliant with Chemonics policy, local labour laws, and USAID regulations
  • Understand Chemonics policy and culture; support and give training as needed
  • Maintain accurate timesheet records and ensure all timesheets are submitted on time with the correct approval
  • Ensure personnel and recruitment files are maintained according to the requirement, ensure confidentiality and safety of the data
  • Work closely with assigned supervisor on communication to staff and labour law compliance, and help to ensure a positive and thriving work environment for all staff
  • Support HR Manager to administer benefits according to appropriate plans and labour laws requirements. Bring any required changes or suggestions for improvement to human resources team’s attention
  • Ensure project compliance with local labour laws by conducting regular audits, and keeping updated on local labour laws and HR best practices
  • In conjunction with human resources team and Operations Director, act as project resource for questions on Chemonics’ policies, Zambian labour law, and USAID personnel policies and regulations
  • Administer training for annual assessment process and coordinate receipt and filing of assessments.
  • Work with employees and supervisors to prevent and/or resolve employee relations issues in coordination with Global HR and Office of Business Conduct (OBC).
  • Update employee manual as needed in coordination with the HR Manager; communicate changes when applicable
  • Supervise and mentor staff; responsible for the professional development and assessment of the HR Officer
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Location of Assignment

  • The location of the assignment is Lusaka, Zambia with intermittent travel throughout the country.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Minimum four (4) years’ experience in human resources with experience working for development projects and/or organizations
  • Knowledgeable of Zambian labour law
  • Ability to work in team environment a must; previous experience managing/supervising others highly preferred
  • Ability to exercise confidentiality and high levels of professionalism
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Written and spoken fluency in English required
