Chief Executive Officer job in Zambia
NICO insurance Zambia, a subsidiary of NICO Holdings Limited and an associate of Sanlam Group and is the general Insurance company operating In Zambia. The company has five branches across the country whose major business lines are Corporate Commercial and Personal Lines. NICO Zambia has a solid capital base drawing experience and technical expertise from the NICO and Sanlam Group, one of the largest financial services groups in South Africa.
With tile Impending retirement of the current Chief Executive Officer, NICO Zambia is looking to fill the position of Chief Executive Officer to provide executive leadership in leading and managing teams of people. He/she should also have in depth knowledge of the general insurance Industry and a track record of business growth.
Job Purpose
Overall responsibility for the leadership, strategic direction and business results of the Company. Reporting to Board of Directors and working closely with the executive Team, the CEO ensures that the Company establishes appropriate strategic goals, manages Its resources to meet these goals and executes the steps necessary to deliver the highest standards of business performance.
Output/Core Task
The key results areas are:
• Formulate, communicate and implement the group’s vision, mission and strategic direction as approved by the board of directors;
• Provide leadership In line with development and Implementation of the group’s strategic plans in line with shareholder expectations
• Develop business models to secure long term business positioning to ensure the Company’s success;
• Lead, guide and evaluate the work of other executive managers;
• Build Internal and external strategic partnerships while liaising with relevant stakeholders to ensure that the company operates in a conducive environment,
• Optimize returns to shareholders through operational growth and effective capital managements;
• Achieve operational results for all key metrics en line with annual business budget and plans;
• Ensure regulatory compliance and a strong culture of corporate governance;
• Ensure adequate process to identify, mitigate/manage and
• escalate current and emerging risks; and
• Maintain awareness of the external and internal and competitive landscape, opportunities for expansion, customers, new markets and new industry developments.
Qualifications
- A Chartered insurer with the Chartered Insurance institute (UK) or equivalent qualification and a Masters in Business Administration.
Knowledge and Experience
• At least 10 years’ experience at executive management level within the insurance sector with relevant corporate experience
• Customer care skills.
• Demonstrated record of revenue and profit growth and new business development experience; and
• Experience at board level
