In order to support our growth aspirations, we seek to recruit qualified candidates who are self-motivated and results-oriented to fill the following position:

CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICER

Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer

Provides supervision to: Credit Manager, Integrations/Social Performance Manager and Branch Managers

Location: Head Office – Lusaka

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Offers Leadership in Integration and continued effective relation with World Vision and other strategic partners
  • Supervises the day to day branch operations through the Branch Managers to ensure that targets set & agreed upon are met
  • Coordinates the individual branch plans and works with finance & the CEO on the development of an overall business plan.

Portfolio Quality Management

  • Plans and ensures the implementation of an adequate and timely reporting system with focus on each branch’s asset quality, liquidity, capital adequacy & provisioning
  • Champions the efforts in managing loan delinquency by closely monitoring the zones and ensuring strict compliance to all policies and procedures

Portfolio Growth

  • Champions the efforts in mobilizing savings from the public
  • Ensures that policies and procedures are applied consistently & uniformly across all branches

Coordination

  • Coordinates with Finance, HR and Admin department to make sure there that there is appropriate branch liquidity Management
  • Coordinates with other departments for the smooth running of business operations

Marketing

  • Develops proposals for further improvement of operations, including concepts for new products and services;
  • Coordinates with the marketing manager the planning and initiation of promotional measures;

Portfolio quality

  • Champions” the efforts at managing delinquency by closely monitoring the zones and ensuring strict compliance to all policies and procedures;
  • Actively leads organizational response to branches with non standard portfolio quality

Formulation of Operational Policies & Procedures

  • Proposes to the CEO any changes or enhancements to the branch operations manual
  • Ensures compliance to all existing regulations;
  • Oversees the implementation of the internal control systems, ensuring the smooth running of the business and safeguarding the institution’s assets;
  • Ensures that policies and procedures are applied consistently and uniformly across all branches

Staff development

  • Ensures that the operations staff receive adequate training; Participates in development/ reviews of curriculum for training of the Credit Officers;
  • Undertakes performance appraisals and staff development plans for all supervised staff
  • Coordinates with the HR department in planning personnel capacity of the branches;

Minimum qualification requirements and competencies:

  • University Degree in Agriculture, Economics, Accounting, Banking and Finance or Business Administration.
  • A masters degree any relevant field will be an added advantage
  • At least 8 years of experience in credit operations and deposit taking, of which 3 years should be at senior management level.
  • Determined personality with initiative, perseverance and the ability to motivate and manage a team
  • Be a good trainer, facilitator, mentor, and coach
  • Very good communication and marketing skills
  • Good knowledge in economic and financial matters
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
