ChildFund Zambia Currently Recruiting: Senior M&E Specialist


ChildFund Zambia is an International, Child Protection and Development Agency working for the well being of children; supporting locally led initiatives that strengthen families and communities in overcoming root causes of child poverty and ensuring the protection of Children’s rights. ChildFund Zambia wishes to recruit for various positions to work on a 5 year, USAID-funded Reading Project in Zambia. “Let’s Read Zambia” will target approximately 1.4 million students in 4,000 public and community primary schools, including Early Childhood Centers that are clustered in an estimated 400 zones in 48 districts in the provinces of Lusaka, Southern, Muchinga, Eastern, and Northwestern. The project will ensure that students attending Grades 1, 2, and 3 in Zambian public and community schools in five targeted provinces will have an opportunity to learn to read grade-level text with comprehension and to write at grade level in one of the seven local official languages of instruction: Cinyanja, Chitonga, Icibemba, Kikaonde, Lunda, Luvale and Silozi after three years of primary schooling in Grades 1-3.

Senior M&E Specialist (1):

Responsible for the leadership and management of the technical assistance being provided in the development and implementation of monitoring and evaluation systems for project activities. They will be the responsible for the maintaining the project’s monitoring and evaluation plans; supporting project design; ensuring that the producing of annual reports on Let Us Read Zambia performance takes place, and supporting the USAID in the learning from and making decisions based on monitoring and evaluation data. This position will work 10 months year 1, full-time years 2-4, and 9 months in year 5.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • 6 years work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, monitoring and evaluation in development organizations, working in child-centered programs design and implementation experience including working with community-based organizations and managing field staff.
  • Experience in M&E methods and approaches (including quantitative, qualitative and participatory work with children
  • Bachelor’s or higher-level degree preferred and/or equivalent relevant work experience in lieu of degree.
