Working in Zambia since 1996, Plan International Zambia’s development and capacity building programmes focus primarily on Education, Health, Water and Sanitation, Economic Security and Youth Empowerment, including Child Protection and Participation. Plan International Zambia has Programme Areas in; Central, Luapula, and Eastern Provinces including in Lusaka, where the Country Office is located.
Plan International Zambia is looking for experienced, innovative, motivated, self-starter individuals to fill the following position
Community Development Facilitator (Central) – (2 Year Contract) Building Climate Resilience Rural Communities in Zambia Project
Position Description
To ensure program effectiveness and learning in the delivery of Building Climate Resilient Rural Communities in Zambia Project resilience through the empowerment of young people, women and men. He/she will provide technical leadership the Project team on M&E, including the development of the M&E System and Plan, monitoring tools, and operational planning, reporting and capacity building
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Community mobilization and facilitation
- Facilitates effective participation of children, youths and women in the community and stakeholders in program activities.
- Participating in community entry process, feasibility studies, risk analysis, baseline surveys, phase in and phase out strategies
- Establish good working relations with children, young people, community leadership, and community-based organizations (CBOs), government extension staff and other stakeholders at ward and village levels.
- Facilitate and participate in stakeholder and green enterprise group meetings at community level.
- To track the participation by gender in terms of beneficiaries on quarterly basis in line with 50/50
- Carry out sensitization and gender awareness in the community on quarterly basis.
Qualifications:
- A Diploma in Development Studies or related discipline
- 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role in an NGO environment
- A Class 3 motor bike license
- Ability to organize own work and work independently
- Excellent communication skills
Competencies:
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment, with knowledge of Language, Cultural beliefs and values of community one is operating in.
- Must be a Team player
- Facilitation skills (Meetings, workshops & seminars)
- Proficient in Computer skills
- Building good relationships with various community groups
- Identifying the potential of community groups to deliver specific programs that promote the fulfillment of child rights
