Computer Hardware Engineer Job: Zambia Electronic Clearing House Limited (ZECHL)


Zambia Electronic Clearing House Limited (ZECHL) is a corporate entity registered under the Companies Act 1994, Chapter 388 of the Laws of Zambia whose main objective is to provide reliable, efficient, and cost-effective clearing and switching services to the financial sector. The company now wishes to recruit for the position to be based at its Head Officer situated at the COMESA Head Office Lusaka.

Computer Hardware Engineer

Job Summary

Research, design, develop, and test computer or computer-related equipment. Supervises the installation of computer or computer-related equipment and components.

Key Accountabilities

  • Analyze information to determine, recommend, and plan layout, including the type of computers and peripheral equipment modifications.
  • Analyze user needs and recommend appropriate hardware.
  • Troubleshooting tasks and ensure permanent fixes are implemented on the infrastructure systems
  • Ensure timely resolution of system incidents to avoid disruption of business
  • Enforce adherence to ICT and Engineering standards and procedures
  • Ensure that system enhancement are effected as prescribed to maintain undisruptive operations
  • Confer staff and consult specifications to evaluate interface between hardware and software and operational and performance requirements of the overall infrastructure system.
  • Monitor functioning of equipment and make necessary modifications to ensure the system operates in conformance with specifications
  • Test and verify hardware and support peripherals to ensure that they meet specifications and requirements, analyzing and recording test data
  • Provide training and support to all computer users
  • Recommend solutions to control dust, temperature, and humidity in the area or system installation
  • Coordinate and supervise routine maintenance of computer infrastructure and undertake installations

Academic and Professional Qualifications & Skills

  • A full grade 12 certificate/School Certificate with credit passes including English language and Mathematics
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in hardware or circuit design
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working in a payments system environment is an advantage
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and management skills.
  • Exceptional negotiation and decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Strong business acumen and detail-orientated
