Clerk of Works
Report To : Resident Engineer
Job Purpose :
To enhance and Implement Construction management for the University s infrastructural expansion projects.
Job Description
The responsibility of Clerk of works shall be to:
• Maintain the highest possible standards of achievement such that projects and
• programmes are delivered on time, to budget and to the required quality
• Safeguard the interest on and around the site of project
• Represent the interest of the University at all times on site
• Establish and maintain clear communication and occasionally assist with the development of policies and strategies to ensure an integrated customer focused service
The job holder will be responsible for the following:
• Supervison of work in progress to ensure that material and executed work are in accordance, with the drawing specification
• Examination of the specification and drawings attention Contractors to any discrepancies
• Reporting relevant matters regarding site practice construction and material.
• Index and file all drawings and corresponding
• Supervision of application of tests on materials executed work and equipment.
• Inspection of finished work preparation of Schedule and supervision of remedial works and certification of approval of standards of work Scheduling of snagging items and defects at practical completion and end of defects liability period
• Preparation of specification and the issuing of direct order to the contractor for various minor works and defects, subject to approval of financial implication
• Monitor performance of work in progress to ensure effective conclusion
• As appropriate advise Management on measures to achieve Objectives.
Qualifications
• Degree in Building Science, Civil Engineering Construction Management or related field
• Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia
• Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in the construction industry.
• Traceable experience in similar supervisory positions will be an added advantage.
Tenure
A three year contract renewable on satisfactory performance of duty
