CowaterSogema International is recruiting a Senior Project Operations Manager for an upcoming project in Zambia, aimed at boosting investment into municipal infrastructure and strengthening the capacity of public institutions in financial and public asset management. This is a long-term, full-time position to be based in Lusaka, Zambia.

Requirements:

The Senior Project Operations Manager will have:

  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in the management of large, complex, multi-year; donor programmes, preferably in the infrastructure and/or urban planning sectors;
  • Experience with Department for International Development (DFID) in a programme management role;
  • Demonstrated expertise in results monitoring, evaluation (M&E) and learning;
  • Advanced project management and administration skills;
  • Experience in Africa, preferably Zambia;
  • Successful track record in leadership and management;
  • At least Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline. Master’s degree is a definite asset.

Responsibilities:

The Senior Project Operations Manager responsabilities will include:

  • Leading the monitoring, evaluation and learning component of the programme;
  • Accountability for financial management, procurement, contracting, administration, and logistics functions;
  • Contribution to planning and reporting processes, including development of work plans, semi-annual and annual progress reports;
  • Supporting the management of technical resources;
  • Responsible for the day to day administrative management as well as monitoring and evaluation (M&E) component of the programme.

The Senior Project Operations Manager is expected to contribute to:

  • Improving urban development and productivity;
  • Boosting access to reliable and affordable power;
  • Increasing investment into infrastructure services, including through innovative ways of attracting private, and increasing public, financing;
  • Driving better asset and financial management for sustainable investment into services, namely host governments’ ability to plan, finance and manage its infrastructure assets and services.
